Ali Baba slaughters Breebeto's management

Talking to Channel Samba, Ali Baba spoke out and critisied Breebeto Snr's management style...: "I think this team needs a new accountant and a new manager..... Breebeto Snr is a shambles, he goes away mid season and when he comes back he doesn't score any goals.  Then he pays himself soo much money the club go bankrupt and to top it all off he then goes to watch crappy chelsea game when his team needs him!"

Breebeto Snr made no comment.

Breebeto Snr meets Sir Viv

"Attack minded football is what Samba is all about - we need to bring back the ethos of true 'Samba-style' and start building strong foundations for our future" Breebeto Snr was commenting earlier today on Channel Samba.

Over the past 2 weeks Breebeto Snr has been looking for new talent in the West Indies whilst also taking the opportunity to sink a few rum 'n' cokes watching the cricket ODI's. Whilst in Barbados, Breebeto Snr bumped into a good pal of his, Sir Viv Richards who gave him these wise words: "Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing"

Samba back on Track!

Samba 1 EDF All Stars 0

(Flying Scotsman 1)

Team (1-1-2-1-2): Safe Hands - Breebeto Jnr - Wildman, Flying Scotsman - Carltona - Breebeto Snr, Clown Shoes

Samba Quays FC returned to winning ways with a deserved, but albeit narrow, victory over EDF All Stars on Tuesday night. The game saw Samba unveil their much discussed new look formation with Breebeto Snr opting for his one at the back and wing back formation, dispensing with years of Samba tradition. And it was the new-look Samba who started the brighter, with Wildman, Clown Shoes and Carltona all denied by the impressive EDF keeper. The deadlock was broken midway through the second half when Samba were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the EDF box. The Flying Scotsman, who impressed throughout in his new role as a right wing-back, went for the direct approach and his left foot shot could not have been placed more perfectly as it crept in off the inside of the post. It was, quite literally, a good (set) piece. Despite some late scares, Safe Hands, back in goal after a foot injury ?!?!, was rarely troubled thanks largely to Breebeto Jnr’s rock like presence at the back and the excellent work rate of the wingbacks, midfield and forwards. Speaking exclusively to SambaQuaysblogspot.com Carltona said: ‘Some of the lads were a bit wary about the gaffer’s new system, but to be fair, it’s worked well tonight. It’s always nice to keep a clean sheet and the Flying Scotsman stays behind after training to practice his scuffing and it’s paid off for him. We played some good stuff and we’re looking forward to pushing for promotion next season’. Breebeto Snr also commented: 'It's nice to see the new formation working as this will give us a dynamic edge for next season. The team worked really hard on sticking to my plan and they have given me a real headache going into our first full season - the squad has never been stronger.'

Breebeto Snr speaks to Garth Crooks

Speaking to Garth Crooks after Samba's 2nd successive defeat, Breebeto Snr hits out at the lack of players available to him...

"It's frustrating to have a squad of nearly 20 players and only have 6 available to choose from, especially during this important pre-season campaign. I'm also completely gutted after applying to the FA for an emergency loan keeper and being flatly refused. We just don't seem to be getting the rub of the green! I need fit, dedicated and spirited players in this camp and so far I have not seen the best out of this squad. We lost Clown Shoes tonight to a hamstring strain to add to my worries!"

Clown Shoes joins Carltona, Safe Hands, The General, The Flying Scotsman, Head Height, The Sex Pest and Omario to make it 8 players on the treatment table.

With players hopefully returning next week to fight for their Samba careers rumours are rife that Breebeto Snr could well be culling the squad come the start of Samba's first season... Tuesday 10th February.

Samba - tactical update

Breebeto Snr changes the Formation:

"After a disappointing display against Lambeth Vets we need to work on a Plan B. For our next match we are going to experiment with a new formation. We're going to change from our usual 1-2-3-1 (left) to a new dynamic 1-3-1-2 (right) with wingbacks. This will allow us an extra striker and some width along the touchlines."

Breebeto is asking ALL the squad for their preferred playing position for the next game on Tuesday at 9:15pm so please email your corresponding number choice asap. Samba for life!!!

"Imagine 10 years after you stop playing, you go back, you look around, you are not in any picture, you have no medals, no trophies; it is like you played for nothing. You may have a fantastic car, a fantastic home, but what does it matter?" - Fernando Torres

The Samba Boys: "Return Of The Samba"

Track: "Return Of The Samba"
Album: "Samba’s Back"

Oh, oo-o-oh, come on, ooh, yeah

Well we tried to tell you so, yes, we did
But we guess you didn't know, as we said the story goes
Baby, now we got the flow
'Cos we knew it from the start
Baby, when we broke your hearts
That the Samba must return, and show you that we’re real

We lied to you, all those times Clownshoes said we would reform
We lied to you, let you down, let you down
We lied to you, even though you know we love our fans
We lied to you, but we’re back, but we’re back, back, back

Return of the Samba, it is
Return of the Samba, come on
Return of the Samba, oh my God
You know that we’d be back, here we are
Return of the Samba, once again
Return of the Samba, pump up the world
Return of the Samba, watch our throw (underarm)
You know that we'd be back, here we go

So we’re back up in the game
Breezy running down the wing
Letting Zetec know
That we’re back to take a throw (underarm)
'Cos what we did, we know, was wrong
And all the nasty things Greg done (kicking that guy in the head)
So, fans, listen carefully
While we sing our come-back song

We lied to you, 'cos we said we’d reform soo-ner
We lied to you, yes we did, yes we did
We lied to you, all these pains you said we'd never feel (groin strains, cramp etc)
We lied to you,
but we’re back, but we’re back, back, back,

Repeat Chorus

Team (1-2-3-1): Safe Hands - Richardinho, Head Height - Breebeto Snr, Carltiano (c), Breebeto Jnr - Wildman

The Breebeto brothers celebrating with Captain Carltiano running to join in

Samba Quays made a triumphant return to competitive football, after a two and half year hiatus, with a 4-2 victory over FC Herne Hill on Tuesday night. Player manager Jonny 'Breebeto Snr' Breeze was left sweating on the fitness of star keeper Will 'Safe Hands' Coulter, but the man the fans call 'the cat' came off his sick bed to ensure Samba could field a full team. In came Adam 'Richardinho' Richardson and Tom 'Breebeto Jnr' Breeze for their senior Samba debuts, lining up alongside Samba veteran John 'Head Height' Cross, Breebeto Senior, Greg 'Wildman' Day and new captain Matthew 'Carltiano' Carlton. After a cagey opening period, it was new boy Breebeto Junior who broke the deadlock, firing in from 15 yards midway through the first half.

Herne Hill soon retorted with a quick equaliser, before Breebeto Snr restored Samba's lead and rolled back the years with a trademark left footed finish - he may have put on a few pounds since his last Samba appearance but the left foot seems to be working well. The scores were soon level again after the break, when Herne Hill's impressive striker burst through the Samba backline to fire home. Many in the crowd thought that would signal the end of Samba's plucky showing, but how wrong they were. First Breebeto Snr rifled in a ferocious right foot drive (yes, that's correct...right foot) before Carltiano sealed things with a poacher's goal, following up when Breebeto Snr's hat-trick effort was blocked by the keeper. Samba's legions of fans celebrated wildly at the full time whistle, with many heading to The Vale for post game drinks.

While the fans partied, Breebeto Snr spoke to the media: 'I don't want to get carried away but this could be the start of something special for Samba Quays FC. We're more focused after our long break and I predict we'll move up the table and the divisions swiftly.' Breebeto Snr singled out Head Height for special praise, citing he'd like the rest of his squad to follow the big defender's example and settle down: 'JC's married down now and I think that's evident is his mature displays. He rarely plays a pass over head height anymore. I hope sex pests like Basil El-Titi take a leaf out of his book, especially if they want to prolong their Samba careers.'
