Breebeto Snr speaks to Garth Crooks
"It's frustrating to have a squad of nearly 20 players and only have 6 available to choose from, especially during this important pre-season campaign. I'm also completely gutted after applying to the FA for an emergency loan keeper and being flatly refused. We just don't seem to be getting the rub of the green! I need fit, dedicated and spirited players in this camp and so far I have not seen the best out of this squad. We lost Clown Shoes tonight to a hamstring strain to add to my worries!"
Clown Shoes joins Carltona, Safe Hands, The General, The Flying Scotsman, Head Height, The Sex Pest and Omario to make it 8 players on the treatment table.
With players hopefully returning next week to fight for their Samba careers rumours are rife that Breebeto Snr could well be culling the squad come the start of Samba's first season... Tuesday 10th February.

The Samba Boys: "Return Of The Samba"
Track: "Return Of The Samba"
Album: "Samba’s Back"
Oh, oo-o-oh, come on, ooh, yeah
Well we tried to tell you so, yes, we did
But we guess you didn't know, as we said the story goes
Baby, now we got the flow
'Cos we knew it from the start
Baby, when we broke your hearts
That the Samba must return, and show you that we’re real
We lied to you, all those times Clownshoes said we would reform
We lied to you, let you down, let you down
We lied to you, even though you know we love our fans
We lied to you, but we’re back, but we’re back, back, back
Return of the Samba, it is
Return of the Samba, come on
Return of the Samba, oh my God
You know that we’d be back, here we are
Return of the Samba, once again
Return of the Samba, pump up the world
Return of the Samba, watch our throw (underarm)
You know that we'd be back, here we go
So we’re back up in the game
Breezy running down the wing
Letting Zetec know
That we’re back to take a throw (underarm)
'Cos what we did, we know, was wrong
And all the nasty things Greg done (kicking that guy in the head)
So, fans, listen carefully
While we sing our come-back song
We lied to you, 'cos we said we’d reform soo-ner
We lied to you, yes we did, yes we did
We lied to you, all these pains you said we'd never feel (groin strains, cramp etc)
We lied to you, but we’re back, but we’re back, back, back,
Repeat Chorus

Samba 4 FC Herne Hill 2

Samba Quays made a triumphant return to competitive football, after a two and half year hiatus, with a 4-2 victory over FC Herne Hill on Tuesday night. Player manager Jonny 'Breebeto Snr' Breeze was left sweating on the fitness of star keeper Will 'Safe Hands' Coulter, but the man the fans call 'the cat' came off his sick bed to ensure Samba could field a full team. In came Adam 'Richardinho' Richardson and Tom 'Breebeto Jnr' Breeze for their senior Samba debuts, lining up alongside Samba veteran John 'Head Height' Cross, Breebeto Senior, Greg 'Wildman' Day and new captain Matthew 'Carltiano' Carlton. After a cagey opening period, it was new boy Breebeto Junior who broke the deadlock, firing in from 15 yards midway through the first half.
Herne Hill soon retorted with a quick equaliser, before Breebeto Snr restored Samba's lead and rolled back the years with a trademark left footed finish - he may have put on a few pounds since his last Samba appearance but the left foot seems to be working well. The scores were soon level again after the break, when Herne Hill's impressive striker burst through the Samba backline to fire home. Many in the crowd thought that would signal the end of Samba's plucky showing, but how wrong they were. First Breebeto Snr rifled in a ferocious right foot drive (yes, that's correct...right foot) before
While the fans partied, Breebeto Snr spoke to the media: 'I don't want to get carried away but this could be the start of something special for Samba Quays FC. We're more focused after our long break and I predict we'll move up the table and the divisions swiftly.' Breebeto Snr singled out Head Height for special praise, citing he'd like the rest of his squad to follow the big defender's example and settle down: 'JC's married down now and I think that's evident is his mature displays. He rarely plays a pass over head height anymore. I hope sex pests like Basil El-Titi take a leaf out of his book, especially if they want to prolong their Samba careers.'
